Henty is known as 'The Home of the Header' and a town of agricultural innovation. In 1914 a local farmer, Mr Headlie Taylor, invented the header harvester and revolutionised agriculture. It is regarded as the greatest single contribution to the development of the grain industry. The Henty Field Days has been held for more than 40 years and today the site includes more than 18 permanent buildings. More than 50,000 people from the agribusiness sector head to Henty in September for this event. The Henty Rotary Club has developed a former Government Dam into a nature reserve and is home to a variety of aquatic species, birdlife and picnic areas.
